Step 1 – Receive Acceptance Letter

Congratulations on your acceptance to SUNY Genesee Community College! At this time, you should have received an acceptance letter from the Admissions Office.

Your acceptance letter will contain the necessary information for creating a password and logging in to myGCC:

  • GCC NetID (username)
  • Student ID (800XXXXXX)
  • myGCC Login: GCC NetID@globalmix360.net

For transfer credit, be sure that you have submitted your official foreign college transcripts through WES to admissions@globalmix360.net.

Step 2 – Pay SEVIS Fee and Make Visa Appointment

  • Pay SEVIS fee.
  • Schedule your visa appointment at your local embassy/consulate.
  • Please note if you are a Canadian Citizen, you will not make a visa appointment.  Contact gccint@globalmix360.net for more information about your arrival process.

Step 3 – Set-Up Password

  1. Visit the SUNY GCC home page.
  2. At the top of the homepage you will see a prompt to Log in to myGCC.
  3. After selecting myGCC, select Reset/Set up your password.
  4. Select either reset or set up your password.
  5. Enter your Username also known as GCC NetID.
  6. You will be prompted first for your Student ID and Birth month (numerical digit without a “zero”).
  7. You will then be prompted to create a password.
  8. Once you successfully create your password you will be able to Log in to myGCC.
  9. It will be helpful to maintain a copy of your username and password in a safe and secure location.

For technical assistance, call the HELP DESK at 1-866-614-5004 and choose Option 1.

Step 4 – Submit Student Immunization Form

Fill out and submit Student Immunization Form to health@globalmix360.net. It is advised students secure their own international insurance prior to arrival.

Step 5 – Secure Housing

For on-campus housing email CollegeVillage@globalmix360.netLearn how to apply. There are a variety of off-campus housing options available. Search apartment rentals in Batavia, NY 14020.

Step 6 – Inform GCC of Your Arrival Information

Email gccint@globalmix360.net your day, time, location of arrival.

Step 7 – Submit Copies of Immigration Documents

Email gccint@globalmix360.net copies of your passport, visa, signed I-20.

After arrival to Campus:

Step 8 – Placement Testing

All GCC students are required to meet the College proficiencies in math, reading, and English. Placement in these courses is determined by Multiple Measures Policy including: Accuplacer, ACT/ SAT V scores, high school dual credit, Regents ELA scores, or previous college credit, TOEFL, or IELTS.

Students should review their Degree Works degree audit or contact gccint@globalmix360.net to determine if testing is required. To review your Degree Works degree audit:

  1. Log in to myGCC.
  2. Select My Dashboard.
  3. Under Registration Tools, Select “Run a Degree Audit”

If you are required to take ACCUPLACER, testing information and practice tests are available at the Testing Office page.

Step 9 – Advisement Appointments and Registering for Classes

Visit the Student Success Directory and schedule a virtual or phone advisement appointment with Jenny Weatherall or Kate Fredericks, International Student Services Specialists. Prior to your appointment, you will need to:

  1. “Set-up password”
  2. Successfully log in to myGCC
  3. Open and review your Degree Works Degree Audit

Step 10 – Check GCC email, myGCC, and Brightspace

Your GCC email, myGCC account, and Brightspace will provide you with important information and updates, so check them daily.

Please note: Your email and Brightspace will become available after you register for classes.

Step 11 – Attend Mandatory International Student Information Session

Check your GCC email for more information.
